TOWNSHIP OF HOLLIS ~ COUNTY OF PEORIA ~ STATE OF ILLINOIS
MINUTES REGULAR MONTHLY BOARD AUDIT MEETING
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2018
The Clerk led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The Supervisor called the meeting to order @ 7:00 P.M. at the Hollis Town Hall, 6430 West Wheeler Road, Mapleton, Illinois 61547-9615.
Board Members Present for Roll Call:
Supervisor; William J. Gerdes; Clerk Linda A. Phillips; Trustees: James E. Bailey; Maryann S. Morrison and Rich D. Murray.
The Supervisor announced a quorum was present. Trustee Rhonda L. Hodges was excused.
The Road Commissioner, Dennis Beckman, and the Tax Assessor, Alice Dailey, attended this meeting.

There were no corrections or additions to the Agenda.

APROVE MINUTES of Previous Meetings:
Prior to tonight’s meeting, copies of Minutes from the Regular Monthly Meeting held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 were distributed to Board Members for their review.
MOTION to accept the Minutes as presented made by Murray; second Bailey.
Motion passed unanimously with all ayes.

AUDIT CURRENT EXPENDITURES, Investments, Transfer of Funds, Budget Line Item Transfers:
1. MOTION to accept for payment all Town Fund Invoices as presented to the Board on the Disbursement Summary December 27, 2018 in the amount of $ 6,078.88.
Motion Morrison; second Murray. The motion passed with all ayes on a roll call vote.

2. MOTION to accept for payment all Road & Bridge Fund Invoices as presented to the Board on the Disbursement Summary December 27, 2018 in the amount of $ 18,730.15

VISITORS ADDRESSING THE BOARD: None
TOWN BUILDING, GROUNDS & EQUIPMENT: None.
COMMUNICATIONS & Correspondence:
Supervisor Gerdes received a telephone call from the Peoria County Auditor’s Office ~ The newly elected Auditor would like to attend a Hollis Township Board Meeting to explain her position to the Board and visitors from the community.
Supervisor Gerdes explained that our Board Meetings rarely have residents attending.
TOWN BUSINESS ~ Supervisor: None.

CLERK BUSINESS :
1. Our Clerk filed the Town & Road District Tax Levies for the year 2018 (payable to us in 2019) with the Peoria County Clerk’s office on Monday, December 10, 2018. A date stamped copy of each document was returned to Hollis Township as verification of our filing the Town & Road District Tax Levies.
2. We have purchased a signature stamp so that the Clerk can “attest” the signature on checks signed by the Supervisor beginning January 1, 2019.

ROAD BUSINESS ~ Highway Commissioner:
1. Because of good weather we were able to do some black topping this past month; that is the end of asphalting for the year.
2. Recently, the 2004 one ton has been in the garage more than on the road; we are looking to replace.
3. Dennis Beckman reported on the TOI Conference in Springfield, Nov. 12-13, 2018. On a legislative update it looks like they would like to abolish Township rule. A great deal of TIF issues were discussed.
4. South Cameron Lane (ie: Pekin Bottoms) had about 150 tires dumped there. The removal of these tires will be the responsibility of the Pekin LaMarsh Drainage & Levee District.
5. The Peoria County Highway Department Motor Fuel Tax Report for Hollis Township:
No current information has been received.

TRUSTEES/ Information / Business:
Jim Bailey wanted to know if anyone was interested in having webinars before or after our meetings. He shared information regarding those he had seen.
Jim also commented that we should establish that Heyl Royster is still our attorney and that he would like to see that as a note on our January 2019 meeting.

TAX ASSESSOR’S OFFICE / Information: Alice stated that 2019 is a Quadrennial Year, which means all properties in Hollis Township will be reviewed every four years.

OLD UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
1. There was a discussion of the on-going problem of dumping tires along our roadways.
2. The Board & Road Commissioner also reviewed the issue of trees obstructing the view for vehicles pulling out onto some of our roadways, which was brought to our attention at the November meeting.
